Archie Connell Knuckles, Jr.

Mr. Archie Connell Knuckles, Jr., 81, of Clarksville entered eternal rest on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Sentara Meadowview Terrace, Clarksville. Mr. Knuckles was born in Maysville, SC on September 9, 1935 to the late Archie Connell and Pachion Smith Knuckles. At an early age, he joined Montgomery Chapel Baptist Church, Pacolet, SC and was a graduate of Benjamin E. Mays High School. He furthered his education at Friendship Junior College, graduating from Allen University in Columbia, SC. Mr. Knuckles taught in Halifax and Mecklenburg County Public Schools, retiring after 30 years of service as a History and Geography teacher. In November of 2000, he became a lifetime member of the Alpha Pi Alpha fraternity and was a United States Army Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Juanita Talley Knuckles. Cherishing his memories are his children, Kenneth Juan Knuckles of McLean, Ponchitta Pierce Knuckles of Clarksville, Archie Connell Knuckles III of Upper Marlboro, MD, Deborah Blackwell of Mount Vernon, NY and Brenda Hardy and Diana Hamer both of Pacolet, SC; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Harold Dean Knuckles of Spartanburg, SC and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Archie Connell Knuckles, Jr. will be conducted 12:00 Noon, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction with Rev. Andy Hargrove, officiating. Burial will follow in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia Court House. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until service time. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
