Christine Gee Long

Mrs. Christine Gee Long, 101, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Chase City Health and Rehab Center, Chase City VA. Mrs. Long was born in Lunenburg County, VA April 20, 1920 to the late Arkley and Rosa Spencer-Gee. She attended schools in Lunenburg County, VA and at an early age joined New Grove Baptist Church, Lunenburg, VA. She married Howard Long Sr., and moved to Chase City, VA and became a member of Concord Baptist Church. Mrs. Long was an active member of the community and was known as an avid gardener. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Long, Sr.; two daughters, Gwendolyn Long and Dorothy Davis; son, Roger Long, Sr.; three sisters, Jennie Hardy, LA Niblet and Eunice Maddox-Bragg and her brother, baby Alex. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughters, Mattie Jean Boney (Harry) and Rosa Carruthers; son, Howard Long (Theresa); grandchildren, Harry Boney, Jr., Earl Boney, Scott Boney, Christian Boney, Jason Long, Vania Long, Sean Long, Irving Carruthers and Maria Branch; a host of great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law; Rose Long, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral service for Mrs. Christine Gee Long will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 30, 2021 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Elder Kenyatta Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Mask are required for all viewings and services, and we ask that you social distance. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
