Cornelius Fields

Mr. Cornelius “Phil” Fields, 67, of Baskerville, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, July 18, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Fields was born  in Mecklenburg County, VA May 31, 1944 to the late Robert and Anna Bell Fields. He attended West End High School,  Skipwith, VA.   After leaving school, Cornelius settled in Long Beach, NY, where he began working at Oceanside Nursing Home in Oceanside, NY, where he was employed for 20 years.  Cherishing his memories are his wife, Mary; two sons, Paul and Rodney; one daughter, Michelle; five grandchildren; Paul, Amanda, and Sheay Fields of Santa Rosa, CA, Shamel  Bailey of Queens, NY, and Rodney Ray Jr. of Elmont NY; four brothers,  Odell ‘Sunny’ Fields (Joyce) Clarksville,  VA ,Robert Fields (Doris) Roanoke, VA, Benjamin Fields (Eileen) of Roosevelt, NY, and  Elmore Fields (Anna) Hempstead, NY; two sisters, Anna Mae Hargrove(Charles) Dumfries, VA, and Carolyn Wilkins (Joseph) , of  Parkton, NC; thirteen nieces and nephews, 25 great-nieces and nephews, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Cornelius Fields will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church #2, Clarksville, with Rev. Cornelius Ogburn, officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements by C. H.
