Mr. David Tyrone Gillis, 54, of Clarksville entered eternal rest Friday, July 17, 2020 at VCU-MCV Hospitals, Richmond. Mr. Gillis was born December 5, 1965 to the late Odelia Frances Gillis. He was a 1984 honor graduate of Bluestone Senior High School, Skipwith. Mr. Gillis entered the workforce as a bank teller at Central Fidelity Bank in Chase City; he was promoted to the bank’s headquarters where he served in the data/client information department. He was later employed by Piedmont Geriatric Hospital as a computer technician. In 1993, he started CompuStyle Computer Services, a computer service and consultant business. Mr. Gillis later joined Longwood College as a technology instructor. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Clarksville congregation. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, David’s life was focused on helping others and serving his God, Jehovah. Upon his baptism on June 28, 1980, David’s love of people and the Christian ministry prompted him to serve in many capacities of the preaching work. In addition to his mother, Mr. Gillis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alexander, Sr. and Beatrice; two aunts, Ruth Yvonne Gillis and Carolyn Jean Gillis; and a cousin, Cassandra Denise Daniel. Cherishing his memories are three uncles, Alexander Gillis, Jr. of Skipwith, LeRoy Gillis of Clarksville, and Larry Gillis of Winston-Salem, NC; three aunts, Brenda Walker Gillis of Chase City, Denise Kimbrough Gillis of Winston-Salem, NC and Frances Watkins Gillis of Skipwith; eight devoted cousins, Bridget Gillis-Cruise of Upper Marlboro, MD, Anthony Gillis of Oxford, NC, LaTonya Watson of Wake Forest, NC, Ian Gillis of Virginia Beach, VA, and Desheima Kimbrough, Wialisha Gillis, Lorenzo Gillis and Darius Gillis all of Winston-Salem, NC, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A graveside service for Mr. David Tyrone Gillis will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 23, 2020 at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Virgilina, VA with Jim White officiating. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A memorial service will be held via Zoom Video Conference at 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 26, 2020. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville.
