Donald Daniel Small

Mr. Donald Daniel Small, 71, of Nelson, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Small was born in Mecklenburg County, VA January 12, 1947 to the late Samuel H. and Sophia Alice Venable Small. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a member of Wharton Memorial Baptist Church, Nelson, VA. Mr. Small was formerly employed as a machine operator for Burlington Industries, retiring after 28 years of service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Small was preceded in death by three siblings, Sadie Marrow, Dorothy Mae Tuck and Frank Small. Cherishing his memories are his wife of 47 years, Barbara Ann McBee Small of Nelson, VA; two sons, Donald Small, Jr. and Darnell Small both of Nelson, VA; one grandson, Deylin Small; Joe Puryear, whom he raised as a son; five sisters, Cleo Marrow and Lucille Reed both of Bridgeport, CT, Gereline Small of White Plains, NY, Corine Hayes and Edith Terry of Buffalo Junction, VA; one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Donald Daniel Small will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 16, 2018 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Dr. James A. Hudson, Jr. officiating. Interment will be private. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
