Dorothy C. Craddock

Mrs. Dorothy Christine Craddock, 73, of Saxe, VA and formerly of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Monday, January 4, 2010 at the residence of her daughter. Mrs. Craddock was born in Mecklenburg County, VA Oct. 9, 1936 to the late Claude and Mary Porter Thomas. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA; was a 15 year employee of Hampco Apparel and was also employed for 10 years at Jonbil Inc. before becoming a caregiver to the elderly. Mrs. Craddock was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness for over 20 years, worshipping with the South Hill congregation. Mrs. Craddock was preceded in death by her husband, James Craddock, brothers, John, George, Joe and Charles Thomas and her sister, Leola Hayes. Cherishing her memories are four children, Shirley Ann Clark (James) of Saxe, VA, Frank James Craddock of Miami, Fl, Tyree Craddock of Red Oak, VA and Mary Alice Craddock of Alexandria, VA; three grandchildren; one sister, Claudia Long of Chase City,  and Ulysses Thomas of Baltimore, MD and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.   A memorial service for Mrs. Dorothy Christine Craddock will be conducted 4:00 P.M. Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, South Hill. VA with Jim White conducting the service. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
