Floyd Toombs

Mr. Floyd Toombs, 79 of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Toombs was born in in Chase City, VA July 11, 1938 to the late James and Nettie Allen Toombs. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a member of Silone Baptist Church, where he sang with the male chorus. He also sang with the Royal Lights and the Golden Jubilees. While living in New York Floyd was employed as a Volkswagen mechanic. In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by two brothers, James and John Toombs and a sister, Sarah Toombs. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Shirley B. Toombs of Chase City, VA; step-daughter, Betty L Boyd of Richmond, VA; one grandson, Rashawn; one granddaughter, Breasia; brother, Albert Toombs (Estelle) of Chase City, VA; sister, Virginia McBride of Chase City, VA; devoted nephews, Albert “Doug” Toombs, Michael Salley and Derrick Salley and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Silone Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Willie L. Carter, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in Silone Memorial Garden. Public viewing for family and friends begins Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
