George Ralph Boyd

Mr. George Ralph Boyd, 63, of Drakes Branch, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond, VA. Mr. Boyd was born in Charlotte County VA January 15, 1950 to the late Melvin Roberts and Addie Boyd Crawley. He attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA and was a member of First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA. He served on the usher board and the pastors’ aide. He formed the gospel groups Crusaders for Christ and the Community Traveleers. He was last employed by the Legal Aid Society of Farmville as a CNA. Cherishing his memories are his children, Larnell Evans, David Boyd, Joyce Puryear, Dennis Puryear, Cora Venable (Randy), Tywanda Rawlings and Mary Pulliam; adopted children, Robert Mosley and Darell Bacon; four sisters, Rose Hayes, Deloris Hodges (Roosevelt), Frances Jefferson (Andrew) and Lily Roberts all of Richmond, VA; three adopted sisters, Mattie Seymour, Dorothy Bradley Wimbush and Pearl Jeffries; two adopted brothers, Rev. Earnest Goode and Theophelus Bradsher and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. George Ralph Boyd will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA with Rev. Opie Terrell, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.  Service 11:00 A.M.
