Helen Gregory Morse

Mrs. Helen Gregory Morse, 84, of Chesterfield, VA and formerly of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Morse was born in Boydton, VA on October 6, 1932 to the late Milton Floyd and Mary Duncan Gregory. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and relocated to Newark, NJ where she was a member of First Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess. Mrs. Morse was formerly employed as a nurse’s assistant at Overbrook Hospital, retiring after 25 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Morse. She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters: Phyllis Morse Doctry of Chesterfield, VA and Cheryl Morse Rogers (Harold) of Richmond, VA; three children she and Earl raised as their own: Harley Tyler of Pennsylvania, Erica Jones of Union, NJ and James Jones, Jr.; four sisters: Mary Crute of West Orange, NJ, Virginia Blalock and Florence Smith both of Boydton, VA, and Shirley Goodman of Charlotte, NC; one brother: Joe Louis Gregory of Mount Clair, NJ; four sisters-in-law: Marie (Dolly) Eugene , Irene Carter, Florence Morse all of Boydton, VA, and Anna (Ball) Taylor of Plainfield, NJ; brother-in-law, Sterling Morse of Boydton, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Gregory Morse will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 18, 2017 at Saint Taylor RZUA Church, Boydton, VA with Rev. Lovely Moore, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will begin on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
