Inez Jones Rainey entered peacefully into eternal rest on March 8, 2021 at her home in North Chesterfield, VA. She was born on May 6, 1930. In 1949, she married James Theodore (JT) Rainey. From this union, six children were born: Madeline Laverne; Marcella Ann; Debora Lynn; Janet Marie; James Theodore, Jr.; and Sandra Elaine. God blessed this gentle soul with 90 years of life and a graceful transition into his kingdom. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lottie and Arthur Jones; her sisters Flossie Mae Jones Booker and Ruby Belle Jones Monden; her husband JT; and her daughter, Madeline Rainey Broadie. Inez attended public school in Mecklenburg County, VA. She joined Greater Union Baptist Church in Chase City, VA and later attended Community Prayer Temple Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. She worked for Hampco Apparel, Inc. and Jonbil, Inc. in Chase City, VA. She took great pride in being a great mother and grandmother. She devoted her life to making sure her family was taken care of and loved. She encouraged her children to strive for the best and to always work hard for their success. She would say, “I want you all to have more than I had.” She had such a kind demeanor that strangers would meet her and end up telling her their life story. Not only did she raise her children and help raise her grandchildren, she also babysat children of family friends. She was a great cook, seamstress, life educator, mentor, and problem solver. She gladly opened the doors to her home to the nieces and nephews as the meeting place to have fun. Inez was small in stature, but big in heart and deeds. Inez leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Marcella Rainey Leigh, Debora Rainey Johns, Janet Marie Rainey, and Sandra Elaine Rainey; her son James Theodore Rainey, Jr. (Karen); her grandchildren Danishia Danielle Broadie, Christal Janelle Broadie, and Bryanna Oni Johns; her great grandson Braeden Alexander Lewis; two sisters-in-laws, Pearl Hardeman and Mae Parker; several nieces, nephews; a special friend and caregiver Katrina Taylor; and a host of other relatives and friends.
