Mrs. Irma Jones Carter, 89, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Carter was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on September 5, 1929 to the late Garrett and Bannah Day Jones. She attended West End High School, and was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Clarksville, VA. Mrs. Carter retired from the Mecklenburg County Public School System where she worked in transportation and food service management. She was a Worthy Matron for the Mecklenburg Order of Eastern Star #178. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Maxie Carter; two brothers, William and Guy Jones, and one sister, Annie Inez Fuller. Cherishing her memories are three sons, Alfred M. Carter (Sandra) and Jerome Carter (Flossy) all of Clarksville, VA, and Michael S. Carter of Richmond, VA; three daughters, Jacqueline M. Brown of Chase City, VA, Christine L. Thornton (Darnell) of Danville, VA and Angela B. Alford (Derrick) of Chesterfield, VA, fourteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren; devoted nephew, Elton Jones; devoted niece, Carolyn Fuller, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Irma Jones Carter will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 3, 2019 at New Liberty Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA with Rev. Mack Talley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. The family will recieve friends on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M. at the church. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
