Mr. Jesse Lee Hardeman, Sr., 85, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, December 16, 2017 at VCU Health Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA. Mr. Hardeman was born in Houston County, GA, May 22, 1932 to the late Hamp and Lillie Mae Ford Hardeman. He was a 1952 graduate of Historic Thyne Institute, Chase City, VA and was a retiree of Burlington Industries, Clarksville, VA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Greater Union Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hardeman was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Pearl Hardeman; sisters, Bezzell Hardeman Briggs, Latrella Hardeman Carney and Adell Hardeman McClennon; brothers, Hamp Hardeman, Jr., and Alex C. Hardeman. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Elizabeth Pearl Rainey Hardeman of Chase City, VA; one son, Jesse Lee Hardeman, Jr. of Newport, News, VA; two daughters, Vera Denise Hardeman Maxwell (Duane) of Tampa, FL, and Clarissa Beryl Hardeman Melvin (Mickey) of Swansea, IL; three grandchildren, Adam and Myles Maxwell and Brittany Nicole Maxwell Perry; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Linda Goode, officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
