Jimmy J. Barksdale

Mr. Jimmy Jerald Barksdale, 60, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Friday, June 7, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. Barksdale was born in Halifax County, VA on May 11, 1964 to the late Earnest and Virgie Burns Barksdale. He was a graduate of Halifax County High School in South Boston, VA and a U. S. Army Reserve veteran. He was formerly employed by Mecklenburg Correctional Center for 15 years, VDOT, and was a retiree of the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) in Butner, NC. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, hunting, training and riding horses.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Trenae Barksdale; two sisters, Millie Barksdale Green and Blair Barksdale; and four brothers, Milton, Roger L., Carl D. and Jerry L. Barksdale.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Doris Dailey Barksdale of Boydton, VA; son, Tyson Tyrel Barksdale of South Hill, VA; two daughters, Diamon B. Atkinson (Thomas A.) of Clarksville, VA and Erica S. Hepburn (Thomas C.) of La Crosse, VA; three grandchildren; brother, Earnest Barksdale, Jr. of Alexandria, VA; two sisters, Mary B. Claiborne of Quantico, VA and Evelyn B. Coleman of Richmond, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Jerald Barksdale will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 15, 2024 in the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Lucas Glasscock, officiating. Interment will be private. Public viewing for family and friends will begin on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M.
