Joyce Martin

Miss Joyce Martin, 74, of Annandale, VA and formerly of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Miss Martin was born in Clarksville, VA May 25, 1942 to the late Clem Martin and Lucille Yancey Martin-Hopson. She was a 1963 graduate of the Henderson Institute, and furthered her education at the University of Maryland where she received her B.S. in Nutrition, graduating in 1974. Miss Martin was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church #2, Clarksville, VA and retired from John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD as an occupational therapist. In addition to her father, Miss Martin was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Martin. Cherishing her memories are her mother, Lucille Yancey Martin-Hopson of Clarksville, VA, one brother, Clem Mac Ray Martin (Mattie) of Annandale, VA; one sister, Ida L. Martin-Amon (Bishop Akhenaten) of Wedowee, AL and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Miss Joyce Martin will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church #2, Clarksville, VA with Rev. Cornelius A. Ogburn, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
