Lillie Mae Wood

Ms. Lillie Mae Wood, 91, of Halifax, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, July 25, 2016 at her residence. Ms. Wood was born in Halifax County, VA January 29, 1925 to the late Beverly I. and Sarah E. Jennings Wood. She received her early education in the schools of Halifax County and was a graduate of Apex Beauty Culture School. She was a member of Refuge Church of Christ, Philadelphia, PA and owner of Lillie M. Wood Stylist beauty shop, where she was a beautician and taught cosmetology for over 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin L. Wood; three sisters, Mattie B. Wood, Dolly Jeffress, Adele Burns and one grandson, Alfron Jones. Cherishing her memories are one son, George Wood of Dunn, NC; two daughters, Marjorie Sands of Halifax, VA and Pamela Taylor of Upper Marlboro, MD; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Luther Wood and Beverly D. Wood both of South Boston, VA; three sisters, Gladys Holt and Mamie D. Price both of South Boston, VA and Dorothy L. Moorman of Nathalie, VA; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Ms. Lillie Mae Wood will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. John Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA with Minister DeMario Covington, officiating. Burial will follow in Berry Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, South Boston, VA. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
