Lloyd Madison Sconion peacefully departed this life on October 10, 2012 at the Meadowview Terrace Nursing Home Clarksville, Virginia for his final resting place with the Lord. He was born October 17, 1937 to the late Thomas and Beatrice Sconion in Perryman Maryland. Lloyd received his early education at the Havre de Grace Consolidated School in Havre de Grace, Maryland. After graduating high school he moved to Newark New Jersey where he pursued a career in both Professional Boxing and Special Security Services. After his boxing career Lloyd worked with the Newark Board of Education for 30 years as a Security Guard until retirement. Lloyd was a member of the United Memorial West Presbyterian church in Newark, New Jersey where he served as Senior Elder of the Deacon Board and Youth Mentor. As he had a passion for boxing he dedicated much of his time and leadership to the Boys and Girls Club of Newark to mentor and coach other young men who had an interest in boxing and becoming physically fit. He also worked as a boxing coach and trainer and was responsible for helping many young men achieve successful boxing careers. After retirement he moved with his wife to Clarksville, Virginia and became a member of St. John Baptist church under the leadership of Reverend Charles Sands. Lloyd was preceded in death by four sisters; Beverly Quickly, Jeanne Giles, Joanette Sconion, Ethel Brown and one brother, Harold Sconion. Cherishing his memories are his loving wife of 43 years Evelyn Sconion, his children: Bridget (James) Foreman of South Orange N J, Lloyd Jr. of Tulsa OK, Lisa (Anthony) Simmonds of Kernersville, NC and Craig (Rosemary) Sconion of Alpharetta, GA; six grandchildren and four great grand-children; one brother, Charles A. Sconion Sr. and his wife of Havre de Grace, Maryland a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Lloyd Madison Sconion will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the chapel of C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA with Rev. Charles Sands, officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at St. John Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will recieve friends Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time, Public viewing will also begin at 10:00 A.M. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
