Margaret Valentine Brown

Mrs. Margaret Valentine Brown, 101, of Richmond, VA and formerly of Montclair, NJ entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond, VA. Mrs. Brown was born January 17, 1916 in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late James and Addie Hepburn Valentine. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and at an early age joined Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. Mrs. Brown later relocated to Montclair, NJ where she was formerly employed as a nurse at Overbrook Hospital, retiring after 35 years of service. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by two husbands, Roger Brown, Sr. and Phillip Flippen; son, Roger Brown, Jr.; sister, Rebecca Russell; brother, John Valentine; sister-in-law, Mary Lena Elam Valentine; nephew, Earl Valentine and great-nephew, Earl Valentine, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter-in-law, Beverly Brown; one granddaughter, Veronica Brown; nieces, Johnsie Davis (John) and Dorothy Ennis; nephews, Robert Valentine, Fred Valentine (Carolyn), Earnest Timberlake (Ann) and Earl Timberlake (Lawanda); six great-nieces, four great-nephews and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends, including the Thomas Family. Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Valentine Brown will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 5, 2017 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Linda Goode officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:30 A.M. until service time. Public viewing will begin Monday from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
