Marie L. Crowley

Mrs. Marie L. Crowley, 89, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, September 8, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Crowley was born in Halifax County, VA December 22, 1928 to the late Archie Smith and Sallie Carden. She attended the schools of Halifax County, VA and worked various jobs. She was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Crowley, Sr.; three sons, Joe Lewis, Thomas Lee and William Henry Crawley, and three brothers, Jack Carden, Mathis Carden and Clyde Smith. Cherishing her memories are two daughters, Rebecca Crawley of Chase City, VA and Minnie Wylie of Albany, NY; four sons, Herman Crawley, Jr. and Matthew Crawley, Sr. (Taunya) all of Chase City, VA, Fletcher Crawley (Theresa) of Crewe, VA and Albert Crawley, Sr. (Sharon) of Boydton, VA; 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren, 3 great-great-great grandchildren; one sisters, Rose Marie Simms; two daughters-in-law, Dorothy Crawley and Anna Crawley; two adopted children, Abner and Ruth Overby, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Marie L. Crowley will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 14, 2018 at St. Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith with Rev. Franklin Watson, II officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City.
