Mr. Nathaniel Parris, 85, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Parris was born in Brunswick, GA on March 31, 1935 to the late Kelly Parris and Arnetha Wilson. He attended the schools of Glynn County, GA, later earning an Associates Degree from Fordam University in Bronx, NY. He attended Shiloh Baptist Church in New Rochelle, NY, and was a retired Taxi driver. Mr. Parris was a veteran of the United States Army; he enjoyed playing cards, horse racing and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Parris was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Parris; daughter, Pamela Parris; two granddaughters, Fatima and Danielle Parris; great-grandson, Barry Young, Jr., and four brothers, Alex, Arthur, Kelly, Jr. and Andrew Parris. Cherishing his memories are three sons, Nathaniel Ray Parris of Chase City, VA, Ronnie Brown of South Carolina, and Carl Parris of Yonkers, NY; six daughters, Gale Mutcherson of Mt. Vernon, NY, Miriam Parris Mack (Kenneth) of Chase City, VA, Laverne Flowers (Lorenzo) of Long Pond, PA, Bridgette Parris of Lancaster, PA, Nadine Parris of Greensboro, NC and Brenda Parris Scott (Melvin) of Scranton, PA; 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Verdell Smith of Philadelphia, PA; one sister-in-law, Mildred Parris, one brother-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A memorial service for Mr. Nathaniel Parris will held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 23, 2020 at 83 Townes Road, Clarksville, VA 23927 with Rev. Dr. James Lester delivering the eulogy. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
