Ronald L. Venable, Sr.

Mr. Ronald L. Venable Sr., 70, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Venable was born in Arlington, VA December 23, 1941 to the late Walter E. and Rebecca Burwell Venable. He received his education in the Mecklenburg County Public Schools. After graduating he faithfully served his country by serving in the U.S. Army. After being discharged from the Army, Ronald relocated to California where he was employed by the Los Angeles Times.  Upon returning to Virginia he gained employment at Mecklenburg Correctional Center, Boydton, VA where he worked until retirement. Mr. Venable was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA. Cherishing his memories are his devoted wife, Wonder D. Venable of Clarksville, VA; two sons, Ronald L. Venable, Jr. of Clarksville, VA and Lee A. Venable (Whitney) of Lemore, CA; one daughter, Nicole K. Venable of Clarksville, VA; one sister, Mary Venable of Florida; two Godsons, Ryan Lancaster of Norfolk, VA and Raymaun Lancaster of Chase City, VA; one Goddaughter, Michelle Wright of Red Oak, VA, three aunts,  Susan Cook of Bronx, NY, Joan Overby and Doris Hester of Clarksville, VA; mother-in-law, Lizzie Smithson;  four sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Ronald L. Venable Sr. will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 19, 2012 at Saint Matthew Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. At the family’s’ request, viewing for Mr. Venable will be held Monday only from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
