Walter Raleigh Rawlings, Jr.

Mr. Walter Raleigh Rawlings, Jr., 60, of Red Oak, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Rawlings was born in South Boston, VA on July 31, 1960 to the late Walter Raleigh, Sr. and Caroline Boyd Rawlings. He attended the public schools of Mecklenburg County, VA, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Wylliesburg, VA. Mr. Rawlings was employed by AWNC, and was a United States Army veteran. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending quality time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Howard and George Phillip. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Stacey Love Rawlings of Red Oak, VA; three sons, Walter Rawlings III of Indianapolis, IN, Wyatt Rawlings of Red Oak, VA and Landon Hardy of La Fargeville, NY; three daughters, Tamika Williams of Fayetteville, NC, LeeAnn Hardy of Chase City, VA and Lauren Hardy of La Fargeville, NY; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Rawlings Lambert of Chase City, VA; mother-in-law, Phyllis Smiley; three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Walter Raleigh Rawlings, Jr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Andy Hargrove officiating. Interment will be private. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
