William Thurman Robertson

Mr. William Thurman Robertson, 91, of Chase City, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Center, Richmond, VA. Mr. Robertson was born in Skipwith, VA on December 7, 1925 to the late Frank and Mary Lyons Robertson. He was educated in the Mecklenburg County school system and at an early age joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA. While living in New Jersey, he attended Mt. Calvary AME Church in Jersey City, NJ. Mr. Robertson was a machinist, employed by Paterson Chemical in Paterson, NJ and a World War II Navy Veteran. In addition to his parents, Mr. Robertson was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Boulden Robertson; a son, Frank T. Robertson; three sisters, Ethel Robertson, Isabell R. Broadnax and Effie Mae Hayes; four brothers, John, Samuel L., James and Thomas and a son-in- law, Linell Richardson. Cherishing his memories are six children, Wayne (Dorothy) and Leonard both of Jersey City, NJ, Warren (Barbara) of Hillsdale, NJ, JoAnne Richardson of Alexandria,VA, Mary Epps (Beaufort) and Cassandra Edwards (Johnnie) both of Chesapeake, VA; twenty grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren; one sister Jerline Robertson of Bridgeport, CT ;one brother, Woodrow Robertson of Ansonia, CT; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Robertson; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Thomas and Ella Cook; one brother-in-law, James Thomas and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. William Thurman Robertson will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 3, 2017 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Patricia Liggon, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends Thursday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
