Alphonso Dodson

Mr. Alphonso Dodson, 56, of Meherrin, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, April 10, 2011 at University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, VA.  Mr. Dodson was born in Newark, NJ July 19, 1954 to the late Alaska Dodson and Rosa Townes. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He was a former employee of West Point Stevens and Curtis Tharpe Trucking. Mr. Dodson was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Dodson.  Cherishing his memories are a daughter, Monique Bacon of Chase City, VA; two grandchildren, Kenizjah Parrish and Saniyah Roberts; step-father, Wilson Gregory of Chase City, VA; five sisters, Katie Mc Cargo, Loraine Atkins, Patricia Dodson and Madeline Arrington (Theodore) all of Chase City, VA and Joann D. Wilson of Danville, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Alphonso Dodson will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Rev. Dr. Ricky A. Lee, officiating. Burial will follow in Dodson Family Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 7P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
