Mr. Alvin Donald Hudley, 80, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Hudley was born in Chase City, VA January 8, 1934 to the late James and Lucy Hudley. He received his early education at the historic Thyne Institute and was member of St. Level Baptist Church. He resided and worked many years in Richmond, VA before returning to Chase City in 1965. Mr. Hudley retired from Burlington Industries after working there for 25 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Hudley, and three sisters, Frances Mosley, Shirley Hayes and Lois Nita Reid. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Christine Hubbard Hudley of Chase City, VA; two step-children, Benjamin Orr of Fredericksburg, VA and Terri Orr of South Hill, VA; one sister, Melba Jeffries of Bridgeport, CT; seven nieces; six nephews and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Alvin Donald Hudley will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at St. Level Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA with Rev. Toney W. Smith, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Service 11:00 A.M.
