Blanche Wilson Wood

Mrs. Blanche Wilson Wood, 94, of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Wood was born in Charlotte County, VA February 18, 1919. She attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA and was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA. She was a member of the choir, missionary society and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star until her health declined.  Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her mother, Alice McCargo Wilson, her husband, James Wood, two sons, George Ralph Wood and Isaiah Wood, two daughters, Blanche M. Guill and Barbara Smith.  Cherishing her memories are seven daughters, Gracie Pulliam and Arlene Redd of Keysville, VA, Beulah Wood of Wylliesburg, VA, Sandra Wood Hughes and Hazel Harris of (Lorenzo, Jr.) all of Saxe, VA, Mahelia Smith (Jerry) of Chase City, VA and Joyce Wood of Maryland; two sons, Irvin Wood of Brooklyn, NY and James E. Wood (Bernice) of Newark, NJ; five sisters, Betty Mosley, Ruth Dailey, Margie Royster, Barbara Staten and Alice Brogdon; devoted children raised as her own, Cassandra Wood Ross, Van Wood, Greg Wood, Anthony Wood and Travis Wood; devoted caregivers, Simone Harris, Percell Downey and Temple Boyd and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends Funeral services for Mrs. Blanche Wood Wilson will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Red Oak, Virginia with Rev. Dr. James E. Scott, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public Viewing will be Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Services 2:00 P.M.
