Clarence Lee Barnette, Sr.

Mr. Clarence Lee Barnette, Sr., 72, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. Mr. Barnette, fondly known as "Pete", was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on July 6, 1947 to the late Howard and Glinis Oliver Barnette. At an early age, he joined Concord Baptist Church in Chase City, VA, and was a graduate of West End High School in Skipwith, VA. Mr. Barnette was a former employee of Burlington Industries and Lewis Tree Service, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and the Washington Redskins. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Joyce Hayes Barnette of Chase City, VA; two sons, Clarence Lee Barnette, Jr. of Richmond, VA and Michael Chavolus Hayes of Lawrenceville, VA; two daughters, Tamika Barnette of Chase City, VA and Latorya Barnette of Richmond, VA; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin Oliver (Mary Anne) of Chase City, VA and Ernest Hatcher (Annie) of Chase City, VA, four brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Clarence Lee Barnette, Sr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Andy Hargrove officiating. Burial will follow in Williams Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City.
