Dorothy Mae Lyons

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Lyons, 71, of Skipwith, VA entered eternal rest on Friday, May 15, 2026 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA.

Mrs. Lyons was born October 25, 1954 to the late Louise Craddock Tucker and James Samuel Tucker. She attended Holly Rock School and at an early age joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Skipwith, VA. She held numerous jobs and worked as a caregiver, babysitter and housekeeper. She also worked in tobacco and was previously employed by Jonbil, Inc. in Chase City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lyons, Jr; and two brothers, Victor Tucker and James Tucker.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her two daughters, Teresa L. Washington (Maurice) and Christy M. Daniel (Brian); two grandchildren, Shyesha Q. Washington and Kendall D. Daniel; three brothers, Larry Tucker (Carolyn) of Chase City, VA, Leroy Craddock (Cassandra) of Amelia Court House, VA and Leon Craddock of Chase City, VA; four sisters, Stella Jones of Danville, VA, Geneva Tucker of Richmond, VA, Elizabeth Tucker of Amelia Court House, VA and Nora Brown (Tracy) of Richmond, VA; uncle, Albert Craddock (Mary) of Skipwith, VA; aunt, Anna Smith of Chase City, VA; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy May Lyons will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 22, 2026 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Dennis King officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 2:00P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
