Mrs. Frances Amy Walker Butler, 90, of N. Chesterfield and formerly of Chase City entered eternal rest on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

Mrs. Butler was born on January 3, 1935 to Earl Lewis Walker and Ruth S. Walker. Her early education was in Newport News, Virginia. She attended Thyne Institute in Chase City, VA, graduating in the class of 1952. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and upon relocating to Chesterfield joined Spring Creek Baptist Church. At Bethlehem Baptist Church she was a member of the Usher Board, volunteered in Sunday School, and participated in other auxiliary activities. At Spring Creek Baptist Church, she was a member of the Wisdom Warriors, worked in the administrative office, and assisted with the Spring Creek Baptist Church Missions Committee. Amy volunteered at the MCV VCU Massey Cancer Center as well as its Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit. She was a past member of the Red Hatters and Eastern Star Mecklenburg Chapter 163. Her hobbies included reading, Adult Bible Study and word puzzles. She enjoyed playing Bid Whist and Pinochle. She was an avid and skillful player of Scrabble and Chinese Checkers. By plane, trains, automobiles, and cruise ships, Amy loved to travel.

Her career included administrative assistant with East End High School as well as with the Southeast District Food Services Department, a decorator of chocolates for Russell Stover Candies and a cost accounting clerk with Burlington Industries. She retired from this position in 1997 after 30 years of service.

Amy was united in holy matrimony to Prince Allen Butler Jr. on September 25, 1954. Out of this union, three children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, and her sisters.

Amy’s legacy will continue to flourish through the lives of her three children, Anna F. Butler, Prince Allen Butler III (Ethel), and Audrey R Butler-Nelson (Gilbert); grandchildren, Kristen Nero, Glenn Nelson, Kayla Butler, Tyler Butler and adopted grandson, Tarik Richardson; three great grandchildren, Ida, Asa, and Kenny, sister-in-law, Hilda Butler and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Dr. Pamela C. Lee delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
