Harold Jr. Cook

Mr. Harold “Pete” Cook, Jr. entered eternal rest Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Hunter-Homes McGuire Veteran Administration Hospital, Richmond, VA. Mr. Cook was born to the late Harold, Sr., and Victoria Shields Cook on March 16, 1933 in Mecklenburg County, VA.  Mr. Cook was a 1956 graduate of West End High School and was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church. There he served as a faithful and active member of the Sunday school and Deacon Board until his heath began to fail.  He was a veteran of the United States Army   honorably serving during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Ella Thomas on July 20, 1960; and from this union six children were born. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cook was preceded in death by one son, two sisters; Rosa V. Williams and Amy Ray and one brother, Fletcher Cook. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ella Thomas Cook of Clarksville, VA; one son, Harlos Cook; four daughters; Ethel Cook Butler (Allen), Cheryl Ann Young (Lawrence), Sandra Cook Bowers (James) and Teresa Cook Bacon (Godfrey); six grandchildren, Valerie, Toni, Ashley, Colin, Kristen and Kayla; one great-grandson, Maddox Jones; three sisters, Lois Cook, Betty Terry (Charles) and Judy Gerald (Chambler); two sisters-in-law, Catherine Thomas and Janie Hall; a brother-in-law, James Thomas  and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Harold Cook, Jr. will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the chapel of C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Rev. Michael Jackson, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Cook Family Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C.H.
