Herbert Arthur Toone

Mr. Herbert Arthur Toone, 87, of Halifax, VA departed this life on May 21, 2026.

Mr. Toone was born in Yonkers, NY on May 10, 1939 to the late Arthur Toone and Leola Toone Tate. He attended Commerce High School and in 1957 he joined the United States National Guard and went on to serve in the United States Army. He retired in 2001 as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Westchester County Department of Transportation and served as Union President for several years. He was a member of the Master Mason of the James Farrell Lodge since 1974. His favorite pastimes included playing and recording music, carpentry, fishing, and spending time with family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lucille Toone and his siblings, James Toone, Leroy Toone, Roger Toone, and Angela DuBois.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Travis Toone of Halifax, VA, Rick Toone (Thelma) of South Boston, VA, and Kim Toone of Northern VA; two grandchildren, Tiffany McAllister Younger (Larry) of Northern VA and Shannon Toone Hill (Mike) of Mount Vernon, NY; great-grandson, Maverick Younger; two sisters, Donna Oliver (Altonio) of Chase City, VA and Maria Tatum (David) of Saxe, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Herbert A. Toone will be conducted 12:00 Noon, Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church, Victoria, VA with Rev. Gwendolyn Starr, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 2:00 until 6:00 P.M.
