James Weldon Boyd

Mr. James Weldon Boyd, 84, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Henrico Doctor’s Hospital, Richmond, VA.

Mr. Boyd was born in Charlotte County, VA on September 21, 1941 to the late Nathaniel and Lillie Fowlkes Boyd. He was a faithful member of Bluestone Baptist Church in Skipwith, VA where he served as a Trustee, sang with the choir, and served as the church groundskeeper. Mr. Boyd was formerly employed by Burlington Industries for 31 years. He was also a butcher and tobacco farmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Alvin James Boyd; and five siblings, Adam Tyree Boyd, Evealean Boyd, Florence Hargrove, Mataw Boyd and Curtis Thomas Boyd.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory two children, Madeline Moamin (Faison) and David Boyd; thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two siblings, Nathaniel Boyd (Louise) and Christine Jackson (James); sister-in-law, Gail Boyd; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

Funeral services for Mr. James W. Boyd will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Lawrence T. Wilkerson, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Boyd Family Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
