James Lewis Fowlkes

Mr. James Lewis Fowlkes, 61, of Fredericksburg, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg, VA.

Mr. Fowlkes was born on July 28, 1964 in Lunenburg County, VA to the late Gloria Jean and Theodore Fowlkes. At an early age, he was baptized at Mount Mitchell Baptist Church in Drakes Branch, VA and was a 1982 graduate of Randolph Henry High School. Mr. Fowlkes relocated to Northern Virginia where he owned his own trucking business for many years and had been a truck driver for over 35 years. He was a veteran of the United States Marines. James loved his family and was always willing to go the extra mile for everyone. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the slot machines.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jamie (Tina).

He leaves to cherish his love and memories his sons, Jamon, Jamaal (Ashley) and JaMarcus; daughters, Jeena and Candice; grandchildren, Jamina, King, Eva, Jaxon, Jasper and Asher; brother and best friend, Theodore (Judy) of Houston TX; sisters, Therease and Tammy; his ex-wives, Shirl Oliver and Deena Mitter; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. James Lewis Fowlkes will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Marvin Harris, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Mitchell Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. Public viewing will begin on Saturday from 10:00 until 10:45 AM.
