Joe Lewis Crawley, Sr.

Mr. Joe Lewis Crawley, Sr., 63, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Crawley was born in Mecklenburg County, VA October 25, 1954 to the Marie L. and the late Herman Willard Crawley. He received his education in the Mecklenburg County public schools, and was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA. Mr. Crawley was a former employee of Clary’s Lumber Company in Gaston, NC. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing guitar and singing. In addition to his father, Mr. Crawley was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Lee and William Henry Crawley. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Dorothy Jones Crawley of Chase City, VA; one son, Joe Lewis Crawley, Jr. (Tiffany) of Chase City, VA; two step-sons, Eric Williams of Jacksonville, NC and Chris Roberts of Richmond, VA; one step-daughter, Shana Williams of Chase City, VA; six grandchildren, his mother, Marie L. Crawley; four brothers, Herman Crawley and Matthew Crawley (Taunya) all of Chase City, VA, Fletcher Crawley (Theresa) of Crewe, VA and Albert Crawley (Sharon) of Boydton, VA; two sisters, Rebecca Crawley of Chase City, VA and Minnie Wylie of South Boston, VA; mother-in-law, Luvena Williams; one brother-in-law, Morris Williams; five sisters-in-law, Anna Crawley, Denise Hardy, Donna Williams, Melinda Williams and April Williams and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Joe Lewis Crawley, Sr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at St. Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Franklin Watson II officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
