Joyce Ann Taylor Blackwell

Ms. Joyce Ann Taylor Blackwell, 77, of Chase City, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at VCU Hospital, Richmond, VA.

Ms. Blackwell was born on March 21, 1949, in Mecklenburg County, VA, to the late Artie Taylor, Sr. and Betty G. Burwell Taylor. She was a graduate of West End High School in Clarksville, VA and a member of Concord Baptist Church. She was a former textile worker, and in her spare time she loved cooking, writing, listening to her favorite preachers, and enjoying gospel music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Artie Taylor, Jr. and B. Tyree Taylor.

She is survived by her children, William (Jody) Vincent Blackwell (Jen) of Powhatan, VA, Derrick Patrick Blackwell (Laura) of Danville, VA, and Tanya Blackwell Jones of Chase City, VA; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, George A. Taylor (Nell) of Chase City, VA; sisters, Laura T. Tucker, Gracie T. Davis both of Chase City, VA, the Rev. Rachel T. Satterfield of Richmond, VA, and Pearl E. Taylor of Chesterfield, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Dr. Pamela C. Lee delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 until 6:00 P.M.
