Julia Hargrove Yancey

Mrs. Julia H. Yancey, 80, of Clarksville, VA passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, VA.

Mrs. Yancey was born January 1, 1945 in Mecklenburg County, VA to the late Anna Hargrove and Hope Hargrove. She was a member of Island Hill United Church of Christ in Clarksville, but frequently attended her husband’s church, St. Mark Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA until her health declined. Mrs. Yancey was a retiree of Lenox China, Oxford, NC. She was a God-fearing woman who was not shy about sharing her love for Jehovah and always encouraged her children & grandchildren to “keep God first” and “always give Jehovah the glory in Jesus’ name”! In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting dolls and designing her own with clay.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Yancey; granddaughter, Felicia Baskerville; grandsons, Christopher Roberts, and Tyriek and Tyrell Harris; great granddaughter, Jayda Jones; brothers, Sonny Hargrove and James Hargrove; and sisters, Helen Clark, Anna Wilkerson, Shirley Means, and Ruby Townes.

She leaves to cherish her memories her four children, Joyce Yancey, Linda Yancey, Thomas Yancey, and Sheronda Y. Harris; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Terry, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Services for Mrs. Julia Yancey will be private.
