Larry Thomas Brooks

Mr. Larry Thomas Brooks, 70, of Washington, DC and formerly of Charlotte County, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Howard University Hospital, Washington, DC.

Mr. Brooks, fondly called "Goldwater", was born in Charlotte County, VA on March 6, 1955 to the late LeRoy Brooks, Sr. and Bertha Banks Brooks. At an early age, he accepted Christ and was baptized at the St. Michael Baptist Church in Drakes Branch, VA. Mr. Brooks attended the Charlotte County Public schools and shortly after was drafted into the United States Army in 1973 where he served for two years. He moved to Baltimore, MD and was employed by several construction companies and would later relocate to Washington, DC for health reasons. In his spare time he enjoyed playing sports and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, LeRoy, Jr. and Carl; and two sisters, Mattie B. Oliver and Manie B. Jones.

He is survived by a loving son, Larry De'von; five sisters, Mary F. Crawley of Washington, DC, Gracie B. Thompson, Margaret B. Walker, and Sandra D. Brooks all of Drakes Branch, VA and Joyce B. Parker of Keysville, VA; brother, Arthur Moseley of Richmond, VA; brother-in-law, Ronnie Jones of Drakes Branch, VA; two aunts, Alice Novella Brooks of Keysville, VA and Pearl Brooks of Connecticut; a devoted nephew, Mataw Boyd, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Larry Thomas Brooks will be conducted 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2026 at St. Michael Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. Michael Haskins officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 12:45 PM at the church.
