Leroy Hicks

Mr. Leroy Hicks, 82, of Buffalo Junction, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at his residence.

Mr. Hicks was born in Jones County, NC on May 26, 1942 to the late William Hicks, Sr. and Jessie C. Hicks. At an early age he joined Haughton Chapel Free Will Baptist Church of Trenton, NC and was a graduate of Savannah High School in Lenoir County, NC. He enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF) where he served as an Aircraft Mechanic. After serving in the USAF for four years, he enlisted full time in the New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG), rising to the rank of Master Sergeant.

He received an Associate Degree at Burlington County Community College, and traveled extensively, domestically and internationally. In total, he served 31 years with the USAF and NJANG, retiring from the Department of Defense (DOD). Mr. Hicks was an exceptional and detailed carpenter and furniture builder. He also enjoyed puzzles, oil painting and dabbled in photography.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Melba Hukins; four brothers, William Hicks, Jr., Robert Hicks, James Hicks and Elton Hicks; and one sister, Ruth Hicks.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sylvia (nee Boulden), his daughter, Cynthia; stepchildren, Scott Liggions, Nicole Liggions and Suzanne Way; grandson, Stefan Hicks; great-granddaughter, Skylar Hicks; sisters, Arlene White and Jeanette Hicks; brother, Wilbert (Gloria), and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Leroy Hicks will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 17, 2025 at White Oak Fork Baptist Church, Virgilina, VA with Rev. Glenn Faulkner, officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Public viewing will begin on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church.
