Louise Jones Skipwith

Louise Jones Skipwith, 90, of Annandale, VA was beckoned to eternal peace and sweet rest on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA. Louise was one of six children born to Robert and Annie L. (Clark) Jones in Buffalo Junction, VA.  She attended public schools in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.  She married the late George L. Skipwith also of Buffalo Junction.  Together they had six children.  They fostered in them a respect for hard work, a passion for education, and a love for the Christian faith. Louise was a loving homemaker and served as a domestic worker for most of her career.  She enjoyed spending time with her siblings, gardening, studying the bible, and helping others, especially her parents whom she took care of in their senior years.  Her favorite past times were bible study and singing in the choir at Cherry Hill Baptist Church.  There she also served as an Usher, Sunday School Treasurer, Church Sexton, and in the Missionary Ministry.  She was also a life member of the Baptist General Convention.  She had a good, rich life, full of all the things that matter most to living well. She was predeceased by George L. Skipwith, her parents, and her siblings William Linwood Jones, Katie (Jones) Skipwith, James Edward Jones, and Esther (Jones) Parker.  Cherishing her memories are her children, Jimmie Skipwith (The Hon. Cheryl Allen) of Pittsburgh, PA; Jean Skipwith Hargrove (Thomas) of Annandale, VA; Robert L. Skipwith of Harvey, IL; George L. Skipwith (Gloria) of Seattle, WA; Nancy Skipwith Smackum (Joseph) of Arlington, VA; and William Linwood Skipwith of Arlington, VA.  She leaves behind her sister Ruth Hayes, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Louise Jones Skipwith will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 3, 2011 at Cherry Hill Baptist Church,  2318 Highway 58 West, Buffalo, Junction, VA 24529 with Rev. Hugh F. Peace, officiating.  Interment will follow at St. John Baptist Church Cemetery, Buffalo, Junction, VA.  The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4 until 5 P.M. at C. H.
