Luetta Griffin Small Brummell

Mrs. Luetta Griffin Small Brummell, 72, also known as “Mutt” of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Monday, February 18, 2019 at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. Mrs. Brummell was born in Granville County, NC October 16, 1946 to the parentage of the late Walter C. Griffin and Lillie Jones Griffin. She was the sixth child of eleven. She attended Granville County Public Schools, and Vance Granville Community College, Henderson, NC. She was a member of Baptist Grove Baptist Church, Bullock, NC; there she was a member of the Senior Choir and served on the church’s Hospitality Committee. She was a retiree of Russell Stover Candies with over 30 years of employment. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brummell was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorenza G. Hicks and Mary G. Monk, and one brother Ernest C. Griffin. Cherishing her memories are her husband, Augustus Loring Brummell of Clarksville, VA; three daughters, Gwendolyn Brooks (Tony) of Oxford, NC, Deborah Coleman (Darryl) of Creedmoor, NC, Stacy Harrington (Joe) of Cameron, NC; two sons, Roscoe H. Small, Jr. of Durham, NC, and Tracy Small of Bullock, NC; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Barbara J. Terry of Oxford, NC, Gora L. Bailey of Upper Marlboro, MD, Pearl V. Skipwith of Washington, DC and Sylvia Griffin of Bullock, NC; three brothers, Clarence Griffin of Bullock, NC, Willie Griffin (Sally) of Durham, NC, and Floyd Griffin (Rosalind) of Oxford, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, James Brummell, John Lewis, Leonard Hicks, Edgar Royster, Eleanor Terry, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, February 22, 2019 at Baptist Grove Baptist Church, Bullock, NC with Rev. Ollie Ellison delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
