Mr. Orlando “Lanny” Valdes, 94, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA.
Mr. Valdes was born on July 13, 1931, in Regla, Havana, Cuba to the late Pedro Valdes and Rosa Sanchez. He immigrated to America on May 22, 1962 and became an American Citizen on February 24, 1970. On February 24, 1972, he married Hattie Lee Clay in Newark, NJ. After moving to Clarksville, he worked at Prestwould Plantation, The Pizza Pub and The Lighthouse Café.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Valdes and his siblings.
His memory will be cherished by his adopted family, Mary and Sherry Guerrant, Kasey, Aaron, Lindie and Karlene McQuain and Carla Blankenship. Also survived by his caretakers, Lakisha Penick, Irene Carter and Jan Turner and his loving neighbors of Alta Vista Drive. Mr. Valdes is survived by his niece, Giselle Miller and her family from Miami, Florida.
Funerals services for Mr. Orlando Valdes will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 4, 2026 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Pastor Jacob Thomasson delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Williamson Family Cemetery, Buffalo Junction, VA. Public viewing will begin on Sunday from 1:00 to 1:45 P.M.
