Rashawn China Smith

Mr. Rashawn China Smith, 42, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at VCU Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA.

Mr. Smith was born in Sarasota, FL on January 09, 1984 to Sandra Hatcher Bacon and the late Howard China Smith, Sr. He graduated from Central High School in Victoria, VA. Upon completion of a certificate in building trades at Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, VA, he gained employment with Virginia Homes in Boydton, VA. As an adult, Rashawn accepted the Lord at the Holy Church of God and Prophecy in Chase City, VA and had attended the Holy Name Church of Jesus in Chase City. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, volunteering, listening to music and writing rap gospel songs.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Anjelica Mosley, Careshia and Christina Smith; maternal grandparents, Grover Hatcher and Irene Parks; and paternal grandparents, Willis and Ester Smith,

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Sandra Bacon (Jerry) of Victoria, VA; sisters, Tanisha Hubbard (Juan), Palmetto FL, Alissha Bacon, Chase City, VA, Melissa Adams, Chinika Smith and Victoria Smith, all of Florida and Misha Jennings, Alabama; brothers, Howard China Smith, Jr, China Jerome Smith (Erica), Tavaris Smith and Santana Smith, all of Florida, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Rashawn China Smith will be conducted 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Melvin J. Palmer, officiating. Burial will follow in Berean Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M.
