Robert Haywood Ellis

Mr. Robert Haywood Ellis, 84, of Chase City, Virginia, entered eternal rest on Monday, June 22, 2026 at his residence.

Mr. Ellis was born on March 7, 1942, in Durham, North Carolina, the youngest of four children, to the late Joseph and Anne Ellis. He graduated from Central High School in Newark, NJ and was a member of Williams Grove Baptist Church in Chase City where he served as a Trustee. Mr. Ellis worked as a factory worker, office assistant and chemical technician throughout his 50+ years in the workforce. Robert treasured time spent with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Tarik Robert Ellis; his brother, Joe, and his sister, Fannie.

He is survived by his wife Erselle Ellis; daughter Lynn Ellis-Turner; grandchildren: Tarik (Jr.), Osza, Nyrik, Jahil, Marcus, Katia, Kali, Sean and Nikki; a great-grandson; his devoted sister, Flonnie, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Robert H. Ellis will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Andy Hargrove, officiating. Public viewing for family and friends will begin on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity.
