Viola Estelle Terry

Mrs. Viola E. Terry, 94, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Clarksville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville, VA.

Mrs. Terry was born on December 1, 1931, in Amelia County, VA, to the late Gus Liggon, Sr. and Amy Gugertha Carter Liggon. She received her education through the Mecklenburg County Public School System. She joined Lone Oak Baptist Church in Chase City. Mrs. Terry served diligently as a Deaconess, Pastor’s Aide Society, member of the Senior Choir, and Mother of the Church. She dedicated more than 30 years of service to St. Mary’s Hospital for Children as a License Practical Nurse (LPN). Mrs. Terry also drove a school bus for the Mecklenburg County Public School System for more than 30 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, baking and crocheting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie E. Terry, Sr.; her sister, Ida Pulliam; and three brothers, Alfred Liggon, Fielder Liggon, Sr., and Gus Liggon, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory, four children, Rev. Dr. Freddie E. Terry, Jr. (Teresa) of Nashville, NC, Dr. Frances L. Staunton of Rocky Mount, NC, Ralph Terry (Meiko) of Rocky Mount, NC, and Karen Terry of South Hill, VA; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rev. Dr. Garland B. Liggon, Sr. (Gloria), Mallom Liggon, Sr. (Marva), and William Liggon, Sr. (Cathy); sister, Bessie Boyd, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Lone Oak Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Dr. Freddie E. Terry, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Silone Memorial Garden, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
